What I Got Up To This Month (December '24)

It's come by pretty fast, but we're at the end of the year. I had some things I wanted to get done this year that I still haven't done and on that front I'm feeling pretty down, but I have to remember that I've made great strides on certain other things these last twelve months. I came out to my family and started transitioning! Heck, above all else I'm still here despite some bad days and bad thoughts! These little victories mean something (they have to).

The first thing of note I did this month was my annual rush-through-all-the-games-I-missed-from-this-year, so I played quite a few new games. Some of these may end up making my imminent game-of-the-year list, but the one(s) that don't were still absolutely worth playing. I played Crow Country and CONSCRIPT, two 2024 games that aim to capture the spirit of classic Resident Evil and Silent Hill, though they each felt very different to play. After those, I played the PS5 pack-in Astro's Playroom and started its new sequel, Astro Bot. My game-of-the-year lists should be coming out pretty soon and while I still haven't fully decided on where certain things are going to rate I'm sure it'll be a pretty strong selection of games whatever I end up choosing.

I finished my horror trek this month! With the end of my Silent Hill 2 remake playthrough I've now played (basically) every Silent Hill and Resident Evil game. It was an ordeal but I'm glad I put myself through it. Both franchises were excellent and it was lovely to clear up two of my gaming blindspots in one go. I wrote more about the whole experience here.

I started my next major endeavor for this blog. I played the first Yakuza game. I intend to go through all of these games that I'm able to play, and while I'm not committing to anything right now I have some big plans for just how in-depth I think I want to get.

Oh, lastly, I bought a domain name! This is still (currently) a Blogger/Blogspot site, but it's got its own unique URL now. I've grown a bit attached to this name and it's frankly very cool to see a dot-com that I own.
